Farimah Salami’s Story
I am thrilled to announce my new position as a Program Coordinator – Science Liaison at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Many thanks to Cheeky Scientist team for their support and guidance over the last 6 months, Jordan Gambill for the recruiting process and helping me land here, Caroline Mazhari for a smooth onboarding process, Dustin James for providing this opportunity, Dr. Sima Jeha and Gokhan G for the informative interviews that helped me learn more about the role.
Ever since I started working in a children’s hospital, I was always saddened by the suffering of children. There were days when I received emails from worried mothers and fathers outside the US, from developing countries with a lack of necessary medical facilities, from Turkey, Pakistan, India, Syria and Iran, parents with empty hands and scared hearts seeking treatment for their sick kids. Those days I felt the most failure because I knew my hands were tied and my power was limited.
I believe working with Global Pediatric Medicine Department gives me the best opportunity to direct all my ability and knowledge in the right path to help these children.
